RETURN TO FLORENCE
(2006)
The award-winning documentary “Return to Florence” (50 minutes) is an entertaining portrait of American and British students during an art education in Florence, Italy. The “Charles H. Cecil” art school teaches the traditional painting techniques of the Renaissance period and does not allow the influence of modern trends. The film compares the students' expectations with their actual experiences in an intimate school environment. Love affairs and conflicts among students, teachers, and parents are explored as well. Each character has his or her own story: One struggles for his parents' acceptance. Another dreams of painting all around the world. Another hopes to make up for his grandfather's failure as an artist.
“Return to Florence” has screened at numerous film festivals in the U.S.A. and Canada, and won several awards.
